OUR TEAM
The Fremont Regional Health & Wellness Team serves all of Fremont County and is based in School District RE-1. Our preventative initiatives and best practices service the 5,300-plus students and their families in RE-1, RE-2 and RE-3 within the ten areas of Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child: Health Education; Physical Education & Physical Activity; Nutrition Environment & Services; Health Services; Counseling, Psychological, and Social Services; Social & Emotional Climate; Physical Environment; Employee Wellness; Family Engagement; and Community Involvement.
Brian VanIwardenRegional Wellness Coordinator
I spent the first 15 years of my career with Cañon City Schools as a high school science teacher and wrestling coach (MA Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, BA General Science). Additionally, I am the co-founder and Director of Fremont Adventure Recreation (FAR) and owner of CrossFit Cañon City with my lovely wife, Jen. Together we have 3 energetic children. I am excited to help continue to support health and wellness initiatives and programs in the Region.

Toni PierceAssistant Regional Wellness Coordinator
Born and raised in Florence, CO. I played collegiate basketball for the University of Nebraska-Omaha. I spent 4 years as the Athletic Director at Florence High School before coming to work for Cañon City Schools. Before taking this position in wellness I spent the past 5 years of my career as the Physical Education teacher at Lincoln School of Science & Technology. My husband, who is also a Physical Educator, and I keep busy with our 6 year old boy, Cooper.
